Corundum - Sapphire from Laos
You are looking down the c-axis of a natural crystal of corundum which has been polished on the top and bottom faces to improve clarity of light transmission. Distinctive zones of alternating dark and light blue color, common in many sapphires, can be seen in this crystal.
