Magnesiocopiapite Visible Spectra (400 - 1100 nm)

Magnesiocopiapite, MgFe₄(SO₄)₆(OH)₂·20H₂O, contains a hydroxy-bridged ferric iron dimer which cause strong pleochroism with intensity enhancement of the spin-forbidden ligand field absorption bands when the E-vector of the incident light is aligned with the direction of the Fe-OH-Fe unit.
