Adamite Visible Spectra (300 - 1100 nm)

Adamite, Zn₂(AsO₄)(OH), would be colorless if it were the pure zinc arsenate end member.
The pink adamite  from Mapimi, Mexico, has a spectrum that looks like Mn³⁺ is the source of the color and has about 50 ppm Mn by weight. Darker red adamites have up to 0.1% manganese.


Adamite absorption spectrum      

• GRR 711, pink adamite;  Pink adamite from Mapimi, Mexico . The sample is 3.79 mm thick. Data Files: E||a; E perp a (=c?)

• GRR 3834, pink adamite; from Tsumeb, Namibia, with ~150 ppm Mn and 0.9 wt% Cu.  The sample is 0.535 mm thick.

• GRR 3838, purple adamite from Mapimi, Mexico with minor Cu, Fe, and Mn.   The sample is 2.46 mm thick
