Lazulite Visible Spectra (350 - 1050 nm)
Lazulite, MgAl2(PO4)2(OH)2, is blue because iron can replace both Mg and Al in the crystal.

Georga, USA. 0.092 mm thick sample. The intense blue color of this
material comes from
the Fe2+ - Fe3+  intervalence
charge transfer. 
It varies considerably with the direction in which it is observed. It
is
blue when polarized along the b
and
g directions (~a and b axes) and is colorless when
parallel to
a (~c-axis).  The g
direction (not
shown) is nearly identical to the b direction.
