To run the spectrometer
#1 Turn all power sources on. Three power strips to the right and the IR-
to- visible bulb under the computer. Also make sure the computer monitor
is on.
#2 Start the software- the Newest under the desktop folder Optical
Spectrometer
#3 Hit the Align button
#5 Focus microscopes. Start with the upper lens, getting the objectives
into view and sharp, then the lower lens. If necessary, close the
aperture almost all the way and focus until sharp. Alight the upper and
lower apertures such that they are precisely over each other.
#6 Turn off the microscope with VIEW and lower the upper and lower lights.
#7 Align
#8 Scan leakage
# 9 Scan background
# 10 Put sample on stage. focus on its surface and make sure the
apertures contain only the sample. turn off VIEW and lower lights when
done.
#11 Scan sample
#12 Select tab at top of screen- "Fixed absorbance"
